OvaLearn & The PCOS Journey is an interactive educational app designed to teach users about female reproductive anatomy and raise awareness of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The application is structured into three modules:
Anatomy Learning
,
PCOS Science Animation
,
and
Interactive Quiz Review.
This collaborative project was developed by a team of three, with each member contributing specialized skills:
Yuqi Wang (y.wang54@student.gsa.ac.uk) developed the anatomy learning module, model integration, and designed a character-based ovary mascot to guide users through learning. She also created core UI components and visuals; Lauren Walsh(l.walsh1@student.gsa.ac.uk)
produced the 3D animation that introduces PCOS in an accessible and engaging way, focusing on causes, symptoms, and misconceptions;
As the group leader, I oversaw the overall structure and progress, ensuring the visual and functional consistency across the app. My individual contributions include:
Designing the app architecture and navigation flow,
Developing the Quiz module to reinforce key learning points,
Implementing the UI interaction logic (button behavior, transition flow, and module toggles),
Creating the welcome
introductory user guide,
Ensuring visual consistency across the application by aligning UI elements, color schemes, and typography with one tone.
The final product blends medical accuracy with a friendly, approachable design. Its goal is to make complex biological knowledge—especially about often-stigmatized conditions like PCOS—more understandable and emotionally supportive. This project strengthened my ability to balance leadership with hands-on technical work. It also deepened my understanding of how UI/UX choices can empower users in sensitive health education contexts.
